Reprint. 12 mo. [4], 211, [1]. Book Condition: Very Good. Dark blue cloth with green label & gilt titles to spine. Corners a little bruised and rubbed and very faint stain to upper board (only visible when held up to the light). Inscription "From the Editor" to front pastedown, dated 1830. A little scattered foxing, mainly to textblock edge and endpapers; a few fingermarks to ffep and minor marks top edge pp 4 and adjacent leaves, probably from a metal placemarker. Contents crisp and clean with some leaves unopened. Rare early self-help text, written from a Christian perspective with the aim of easing the pangs of loss upon the demise of family and friends. Patrick (1606-1727) was Bishop of Chichester and of Ely and he produced numerous theological works which remained popular throughout the nineteenth century.
