Publsihers’ grey cloth with gilt titles to spine in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket. Spine foxed and rubbed with creases head & tail, invisible when in jacket; erased inscription with ghost marks and ownership inscription above to ffep otherwise contents clean and bright. Jacket toned and lightly surface soiled with a couple of small nicks to edge.
 
Posthumously published authobiography edited and introduced by Leon Edel. The journals provide an insight into the 1920s, with appearances by Scott Fitzgerald, Dorothy Parker and other luminaries of New York and Hollywood life, described by the editor as “perhaps the largest authentic document of the time, the observations of one of the principal actors in the American twenties”.
