Ballard, J. G.
The Drowned World.

Publisher: Victor Gollancz Ltd, London;
Date of Publication: 1962
Stock Code: 11028

FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 175, [1]. Publishers’ red cloth with gilt titles to spine in the unclipped publisher’s canary yellow sugar-paper dust jacket. Spine and top edge of upper board slightly sunned; top and fore-edge of text-block lightly foxed, internally crisp. The fragile publisher’s sugar-paper dust-jacket is crisp and unusually bright (Gollancz jackets usually soil very easily) with the only notable a flaw a 4mm closed tear to the rear panel.

The Author’s rare second novel, an extraordinary story set in the future after the sun’s heat has caused seas to rise and ice caps to melt, while London has reverted to the jungle conditions of the Triassic period. Rare in this condition.
