A study of the archaeological dig at Mucking in Essex carried out between 1965-78 and covering 44 acres. As well as providing the first ever opportunity to excavate an Anglo-Saxon settlement and its associated cemeteries, significant features were uncovered from the Neolithic to medieval period. This volume concentrates on the prehistory of the site including round barrows, roundhouses, a ringwork and a ceremonial complex, while situating the fieldwork on its historiographical context.
