Four BIBA catalogues (of only six printed) comprising; the first issue 1968, February 1969, May 1969 and September 1969 together with the company newspaper from 1973 and a BIBA Food Hall paper bag. Foolscap, printed stapled card wrappers; approximately 35.5 x 18 cm; pp., 8, 12, 12, 12 respectively with each featuring duo-tone large fold-out images (2 per catalogue apart from September 1969 which has 3). Photographers were variously: 1968 Donald Silverstein, February 1969 Hans Freur, May 1969 Helmut Newton and September 1969 Sarah Moon. Cover designs John McConnell with the distinctive art nouveau style BIBA logo to front cover. The 3 1969 issues all have their original labelled mailing envelope with large BIBA logo and 3 issues have printed mail order forms loosely inserted, one with a single perforated panel removed; single printed BIBA Bank Giro form to 1968 catalogue. BIBA newspaper approximately 45 cm x 33 cm, pp.16. Catalogues lightly rubbed to spine with very minor creasing. Envelopes lightly soiled with small loss to flaps. Newspaper folded twice horizontally, lightly toned at fore-edge and a little creased. Overall condition of catalogues: Near Fine; of envelopes: Good; of Newspaper: Very Good.
BIBA were one of London’s most successful and iconic fashion labels and synonymous with the swinging sixties. The very first BIBA catalogue was produced in 1968, and a total of six issues were produced. The issues each featured a different photographer and models, with each catalogue representing a complete collection by Hulanicki; the items were available by mail order only. Rare in this condition, especially so having retained their original envelopes.
