Lectures originally written at the request of a Territorial officer to provide new recruits with an introduction to training, and published to aid both Territorials and the Regular Army. Subjects include aiming and firing, landscape targets and judging distance; no doubt the volume was helpful to many Territorial volunteers in the early stages of the Great War.
