Moss green cloth with gilt titles to spine, gilt Greek Key decoration to spine and upper board and cross motif in black to upper board; designs repeated in blind to lower board. Cover cloth scuffed, with minor wear to spine tips and corners. A shaken copy with first gathering partially loose, and cracked inner hinges; front paste-down slightly rippled, with printed bookplate of John Orr. A Good copy.
Scarce history of eminent clans of the Scottish Borders including the Douglas, Ker and Riddell families, and of individuals from the area including Mungo Park, Sir Walter Scott and Miss Jane Elliot, who wrote “The Flowers of the Forest”.
