Duodecimo. 115 pp. Three fine engravings by Barlow including frontispiece of the Royal Hospital; engraving of Charles II statue in text. Book Condition: Good. Plain grey paper-covered boards. Inner front hinge weak. Modern bookplate to front pastedown; no inscriptions. Toning and sporadic foxing throughout; damp stain to corner of Royal Military Asylum plate. Annotation in a contemporary hand to pp 55, 78 and 101 adding detail to biographical entries relating to the Earl of Ranelagh, Sir Christopher Wren, Dr Monsey (the hospital physician) and Lord Godolphin. Boards rubbed with minor wear to corners; paper covering spine largely absent revealing grey cloth beneath which is worn with minor loss to tips. Scarce - at time of writing we could find no other copies on sale.
