Publishers’ grey/green cloth with black titles to spine and upper board and advertisements to lower. Cover cloth a little rubbed to edge with small stain to upper board, otherwise Near Fine. Very slight foxing top edge (barely worth a mention) otherwise contents clean and tight; no annotation or inscriptions.
Recipe book aimed at the working classes with an emphasis on economy and variety, with 259 numbered recipes to choose from ranging from Bath Buns, Gingerbread and Seed Biscuits to “dainties” like sausage rolls and tea cakes. The Author was a pastrycook and also wrote “Ornamental Confectionary” and “The Bread and Biscuit Baker’s and Sugar-Boiler’s Assistant”.Scarce. Bitting pp 491-2, Driver p 643.
