Reprint. Large quarto, pp vi, [2], 280; viii, 281- 563. 84 plates of which 16 double-page. Original black cloth with bevelled boards, border in blind to boards, gilt titles to spines and gilt mining motifs to upper boards. Black endpapers. Spine tips and corners moderately worn; Vol I inner front hinge a little weak and Vol II slightly shaken. Creasing to endpapers. Scattered light foxing, mainly to prelims and endpapers, and a few fingermarks; no annotation or inscriptions. Plates clean and bright. Overall condition Good, with Very Good contents.
Classic work on the subject, aimed at mining engineers and managers in need of a reference work covering practice and legislation, with chapters including material on geology, systems of working, ventilation and drainage.
