Publishers’ blue cloth with gilt titles to spine in unclipped pictorial dust-jacket. 2 different double-page maps in colour to endpapers. Cover cloth rubbed at spine tips with small damp-stain to lower edge; top edge bruised. Ownership inscription in ink to front paste-down; small pink mark to ffep; pencil note identifying one of the contributors as the Vicar of Forest in Teesdale to verso contents page, but no further annotation; ink stain to final leaf of index. Jacket lightly spine sunned, toned to rear white panel and nicked & creased at spine tips. A Very Good copy in like jacket.
Comprehensive work on the district, funded by ICI following the construction of the dam across the Tees in 1970. Contents include flora, fauna and aquatic plants, with contributions by several eminent biologists.
