Publishers’ terracotta cloth with gilt titles to spine in price-clipped cream pictorial dust-jacket. Lower board marked by small areas of paper transferred from jacket. Ownership inscription of Paul Bidwell dated 8/78 to ffep; a hint of staining to top edge otherwise contents clean and crisp. Jacket surface soiled with closed nicks & creases; loss to top edge of lower panel. Jacket unobtrusively damp-stained, with scuff marks inside where it adhered to lower board. A very good copy in a good jacket. Report of the excavation of the princely residence excavated under the direction of Leslie Alcock, with specialist reports from other experts in their field. This was the first major British excavation of a medieval ring-work, a type of fortification more commonly found in western and northern Europe.
