FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 188. Publishers’ pale grey cloth with red titles to spine in unclipped printed red dust-jacket. Head of spine and top of lower board stained, which also affects top edge of later leaves. Contents otherwise clean, with no annotation or inscriptions. Jacket a little soiled particularly to spine and lower fold, with small loss (approx 2.5 cm) at head of spine, and a few nicks & creases. A good copy in like jacket. Auden’s philosophical poem with a series of notes and quotations, published as “The Double Man” in the USA just two months earlier in the same year. Scarce in the fragile jacket. £65.00
