Presentation copy. Reprint of Davidson of Alnwick original from circa 1840. Octavo, pp. 144, [8] catalogue. 2 wood engravings in text, and Newcastle armorial to title page. Publishers’ chocolate brown cloth with gilt titles to spine, and titles and St Nicholas’ spire vignette to upper board in black; fore-edge untrimmed. Covers scuffed with bruised corners and minor wear to spine tips. Scattered light foxing, mainly to end-papers and fore-edge. Presentation inscription to front paste-down: “ To Dr G. N. Clark with the Publishers Compliments (Thos. & Geo. Allan) 1889” and pictorial bookplate to front-free end-paper, a very good copy.

Chock-full of classic Geordie songs such as “Canny Newcassel”, “Water of Tyne” and of course “Weel May the Keel Row”. Scarce.
