‘Indestructible edition’. Quarto; pp., 6, plus 6 chromolithographic plates. Pictorial yellow paper wraps; title richly colour-printed to upper cover; advertisements to lower cover; backed on cloth, as issued. Alternatingly printed on one side of each leaf only. Spine cracked with loss; nicks and loss to edges. Some gatherings cracked but holding well; illustrations bright. A complete, unrestored copy. A delightful six-part poem featuring anthropomorphic cats and mice. Indestructible books were an attempt to affray the inevitable wear caused by juvenile readers by backing sheets with cloth. They were not usually successful. A lovely example of Kronheim’s bright, colourful illustrated toy books. £150.00
