Second edition of both poems in one volume. Octavo, pp., 16, 19, plus 5 pages of subscribers to end. Half bound on blue cloth-covered boards, triple gilt fillets to corners. All edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. Tasteful pictorial bookplate of Thomas Brayshaw of Stackhouse and Settle to front paste-down. Light finger marks and scuffs to boards, joints nicked and slightly wearing, shelf-wear to spine-tips. Lacks half title, the usual light soiling to first and final leaf, a few very light marks to contents, but pages are generally clean and rather fresh. A very good copy. Two rare occasional pamphlets by a Yorkshire poet, bound together. The first commemorates the formation of the Yorkshire Hussars in 1794, the second, Nelson’s victory at the Battle of the Nile in 1798. The owner of this copy, Thomas Brayshaw (1854-1931) was a solicitor and local historian, recognised as the authority on the history of Settle and its surrounding area. £350.00
