The Making of Tintin: Mission to the Moon.

Publisher: Methuen Children’s Books. London;
Date of Publication: 1989
Stock Code: 14281

First edition in English. Quarto, pp., 154. Cartoon strip in colour throughout, with commentary and essays to rear. Pictorial boards and pictorial end-papers. Near fine.

The third in the highly successful ‘Making of Tintin’ series, with two complete adventures, Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon. The these stories are some of the best researched of all the Tintin adventures, and this book contains commentary, sketches and diagrams about Herge’s preparations for the story lines. The original books were published sixteen years before astronauts actually landed on the moon but much of Herge’s details of the voyage and the moonscape proved uncannily correct.
