Boldly signed by the photographer in silver pen to the title page. A near fine copy. English photographer John Davies photographed the British mining landscape of the 1980s, and 30 years later took his camera to Béthunes, a region of France also famous for mining. Boldly capturing the history of past industry in epic scenes and subtle tones, his images show two regions of two countries where the operation of the mine and the lives around it have fundamentally changed. With an essay by Davies, with another by French philosopher Jean Attali, in French and English language.
