A full and definitive biography of the Irish Nationalist John Mitchel (1815-75). Mitchel lived through war, famine and and plague, before being transported to Van Diemens Land, a British penal colony now known as Tasmania. He eventually escaped to the USA, where he continued his protest of the English invasion and occupation of Ireland.
