2. Alphanumeric codes in ink to recto of each leaf in a contemporary hand. Lightly foxed and toned, particularly to edges, long tear to central fold but sheet still attached, small holes from sheet registration to lower corners. A well-preserved, very serviceable copy.
A satire on the Popish Plot, which satirises Presbyterian hysteria by shifting English religious politics to the Mediterranean. Controversial and clandestine works such as this leaflet often framed their arguments as news from overseas in order both to disguise their satiric shot in the dark, and to draw parallels to religious conflicts abroad.
