Cover detached from text block, with closed tears to spine. Staples rusted but securely holding text block together. Contents remarkably bright, a well-preserved copy of a cheaply printed book. Occasional lines, ticks and crosses annotated in pen and pencil. A very rare history of North Shields by a local who states his address in the introduction as the Master Mariner’s Asylum in Tynemouth. Drawn largely from the author’s own recollection of events, this short book provides a potted history of North Shields from the 1830s to the date of publication, particularly focused on the personalities of the town.
