Half straight-grain crimson morocco over black cloth; titled in gilt to spine; white end-papers. A rare report on the contemporary history of freemasonry in Shanghai and nearby areas of Northern China, by the Grandmaster of the Freemason’s lodge in China. Written as a sequel to Gratton and Ivy’s The History of Freemasonry in Shanghai and Northern China (1913), this book is a substantive supplement. The photographs within show the architecture of Masonic lodges, brethren engaged in ceremonies, and masons posed for portraits. Freemasonry was banned in China following the revolution of 1949, and histories of freemasonry in the region are obscure. £450.00
