The Shadow Falls.

Publisher: George Routledge and Sons., London;
Date of Publication: 1945
Stock Code: 15309

First British edition, after the French original of 1937. Octavo, pp., 382. Publisher’s original green cloth; titles blocked in black to spine; white end-papers; in the original price-clipped, pictorial dust-jacket by ‘MB’. Toning to jacket; a little mottling to spine-panel; a few spots of soiling to head of back flap. Cloth bright, the corners sharp; binding strong and square. Even toning throughout. A very good or better copy.

The 19th standalone novel by Maigret author, Georges Simenon. Written in the period when Simenon retired the Maigret character, the inner flaps advertises the novel as a ‘complete cross section of pre-war French life’. Scarce in this condition.
