Roles of Liverpool concerning the binding of this book, and rebinding of other volumes, tipped in to front. Light mottling to cloth; upper hinge cracked and lower hinge starting. Occasional light scattered foxing to contents. A very good copy. An adventure novel set during the Mahdist war in North and East Africa, which follows the exploits of a British officer embroiled in the conflict. The variant bindery cloth on this volume, stated in a telegram inside as ‘not the original publisher’s cloth, but a binder’s cloth of probably pre-war I’, is of an attractive arboreal-pattern ribbon. £150.00
