Contemporary crimson half morocco over marbled paper-covered boards; titled in gilt to spine; all edges marbled; marbled end-papers. Corners, joints, and edges rubbed; binding otherwise strong and square. Evidence of former bookplate to front paste-down; occasional light scattered foxing. A square copy. A collection of topographical sketches and views, each captioned with pages of commentary, with particularly extensive reference to sites portrayed in the works of Sir Walter Scott. Originally published in 20 parts from 1833 onwards, the illustrations were first published in book form in 1834 (we locate copies with dated and undated title-pages, which are of indeterminate priority). A rather lovely selection of scenes of Romantic-era Scotland. £250.00
