Peter Ackroyd (1946-) is a prolific British author having published 4 volumes of poetry, 18 novels and over 40 works of non fiction. The Clerkenwell Tales is a work of historical fiction set in London in the year 1399. Featuring real people like Henry Bolingbroke and Richard II alongside some fictional characters from Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales.

This copy was inscribed by Ackroyd to his close friend and collaborator, the graphic designer Nick Robertson (1971-2025). The pair’s shared love of London, the Thames and urban exploration, led to them walking the length of the river Thames over a course of Saturdays, culminating in the RIBA exhibition Dark Waters. £65.00
