Quarto, pp., [ii], 79, [1], armorial frontispiece, pedigrees within text, each bifolium leaf-guarded. Publisher’s crimson cloth; titled in black to upper board within border of blind triple fillets. Ownership inscription of August Ann Richardson (nee Dixon) in ink, dated 1891, to front paste-down. Corners bumped; spine lightly sunned’ spots of mottling and soiling to boards. First and final leaves toned; inscription acid-transferred to half-title; otherwise internally clean. A very good copy. The scarce and essential genealogy of the Pease family. Augusta Ann Dixon (1836-1913) married into the Newcastle Quaker Richardson family in 1857. Augusta Ann sat on the board of the Literary and Philosophical Society, and resided at Summerhill Grove, the centre of radical and abolitionist thought which hosted Frederick Douglass after his escape from slavery. £125.00
