Publisher’s original green cloth; pictorial cover pasted to upper board; white end-papers. Bookplate of one ‘Diana Sturges’ completed in juvenile hand to front free paste-down. Corners rubbed rare; minor loss to spine-tips; a few scuffs to lower board; the upper board nonetheless bright. Tape repair to verso of title-page; ink spot to fore-edge; otherwise internally clean and in good order. A serviceable copy.
A lovely storybook from the illustrator and children’s author who won both the Carnegie Medal and the Hans Christian Andersen Medal. The posed doll-house scenes of little animals include images of cutesy critters in black tie, riding horses, going to the theatre, and flying balloons.
