Virginia Woolf (1882-1941), the major novelist of the Bloomsbury Group, also wrote numerous letters and essays, and with husband Leonard founded The Hogarth Press in the dining room at Hogarth House. Here Hogarth Press have concluded the enormous literary undertaking of compiling and editing Virginia Woolf’s complete essays, which cover literary criticism as diverse as Jane Austen, George Eliot, Charlotte Bronte, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Anton Chekov, and Henry James, biographical notes on artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Julia Margaret Camerson, and Bloomsbury artists Vanessa Bell and Roger Fry, alongside Woolf’s works on politics and feminism including “A Room of One’s Own” and “Women and Fiction". Spanning nearly 40 years of writing the task of publishing Woolf’s essays in one place took 25 years and is presented here in clean and bright first printings of each of those six volumes.
