Volume I 1866, Volume II 1868-9. First edition. Octavo. Volume I : vi, [4], 480pp; Volume II : vi, 481, [1], [xxiv]. Woodcuts in text plus 21 plates and portrait of the Author (complete). Book Condition: Near Fine. Two volume set in original pebbled purple cloth with gilt titles and ruling to spine. Edges a little rubbed and spines lightly sunned. No annotation or inscriptions; a very clean bright set. Tate was a Freeman of Alnwick and the publication of this history of his home town was marked by a special banquet at the town hall. Scarce.
