Octavo, pp. 384. Head and tail-pieces, sketches and advertisements throughout text. Publishers pebbled turquoise cloth with gilt titles to spine; all edges sprinkled red. Corners a little bruised and spine tips creased. Hinges weak; endpapers toned with ownership inscription dated 1907 to ffep; lacks rfep. Leaves slightly toned as usual, with a few minor marks; stain top edge of final leaf, mainly to upper margin. A very good copy.

Complete run of January to December issues inclusive, with a wide variety of seasonal recipes. Isobel’s Home Cookery was a monthly periodical which ran from the 1890s through the early years of the twentieth century with contributions from various authors, and it included household hints and tips as well as a wide variety of recipes and menus to suit all pockets. The November issue includes a section on Vegetarian recipes, and looks ahead to Christmas with recipes for Plum Pudding and mincemeat while the December issue is stuffed with celebratory fare from Christmas Cake with several types of icing, and sweets “for festive occasions” through to the perennial problem of what to do with cold turkey.
