Publishers’ pebbled bottle-green cloth with bevelled boards, gilt titles and decoration to spine and double border in blind to boards. Ephemera loosely inserted: Order of Service from a Re-dedication of the Primitive Methodist Church at Middlesbrough in 1932, pp.8; woven purple silk bookmark with verse and floral motif; 2 engraved cards each 10.5 x 6 cm approx, depticting scenes of “Escape from Fire of John Wesley” and “Lying in State of Rev. J. Wesley”. Spine tips lightly creased and very minor pale marks to upper board otherwise a clean bright copy. Ownership inscription in pencil to front paste-down; gift inscription, in ink with flourishes, to recto frontispiece dated 1873. Upper stitching of single gathering loosening bu firmly holding. A Very Good copy.
