FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. x, [2], 329, [3] blank, 24 publishers’ catalogue. 12 plates by Lancelot Speed. Publishers’ dark blue cloth with bevelled boards, and gilt titles to spine and upper board. Cover cloth lightly surface soiled; corners and spine tips rubbed. Ffep a little soiled and crumpled; gift inscription dated 1901 to half-title; a few leaves finger-marked and corner creased. Overall a Very Good copy.
First edition of the Author’s first book, a tale of Welsh pirates and adventure in the tradition of Rider Haggard. Written by Arthur Owen Vaughan (1863-1919), the English-born Welsh Nationalist, under his nom-de-plume Owen Rhoscomyl.
