An Essay Towards A History of Hexham in Three Parts.

Publisher: W. Davison, Alnwick;
Date of Publication: 1823
Stock Code: 8282

FIRST EDITION. Octavo, pp. 246. Frontispiece engraving of Prior Richard's tomb and double-page fold-out plate of Inscriptions (foxed & toned as usual); armorial vignette to Dedication. Publishers’ original pebbled purple cloth with gilt titles to spine. Covers toned largely to brown, with rubbed spine tips and wear to bruised corners. A slightly shaken copy with cracked inner hinges, toned endpapers, and scattered light foxing mainly to edges, prelims & plates. Frontispiece fixed to ffep, which bears the ownership inscription of James Dunlop of Hexham, dated 1918. Overall a Very Good copy

One of Davison of Alnwick’s best-known publications. Scarce, especially so in the publishers’ original gilt-embossed cloth.
