Quarto, pp. ix, [1], 183. 12 colour plates by Philip Rickman and H.Frank Wallace mounted on cream leaves matching text and with captioned tissue-guards, and monochrome illustrations within the text by Philip Rickman. Publishers’ emerald green cloth with bevelled boards and gilt titles to spine in unclipped cream pictorial dust-jacket. Boards very slightly bruised to edges, and cloth lightly soiled at extreme top edge. Free endpapers lightly toned next to jacket flaps as usual; a little scattered light foxing, mainly to text-block edge and prelims. Jacket toned to spine,creased to edge, and lightly surface soiled, with 9 cm tear at upper joint and small loss at spine tips. A very good copy in a very good jacket.
Comprehensive guide bringing the reader up to date with modern developments in technical discoveries and management, and covering the choice of where to shoot, the weaponry and ammunition available and various game to pursue from pheasants to vermin, with a chapter on the cookery of game. Scarce in the fragile dust-jacket.
