The first complete edition of Smith’s correspondence, systematically edited, annotated and indexed, comprising 179 letters by him, 48 of which previously unpublished, and 125 written to him including the complete series by David Hume. The letters reflect “Smith’s career as student, professor, man of letters, and Commissioner of Customs” (from dust-jacket) and throws “light on the preparation and revision of his books”. Heavyweight so a contribution towards increased postage costs may be requested for overseas delivery.
