FIRST EDITION. Quarto. xiv, 462 pp. 15 plates with tissue guards including frontis of Bamburgh Castle plus numerous illustrations, maps, plans, pedigrees and diagrams throughout text. Book Condition: Good. Original red cloth with gilt titles to spine and upper board and Northumberland Coat of Arms gilt-stamped to upper board. Top edge gilt. Floral endpapers. Foxing mainly to early/late leaves and tissue guards otherwise very clean internally ; signature of Walter Lionel Fenwick to front pastedown but no annotation. Inner front hinge weak. Spine lightly toned with loss at tips (approx 1/4 an inch max head, 2 inches max tail) ; edges a little scuffed with wear at corners and a few cup-rings to upper board. A good example of the first volume in the set. Heavy, shipping outside the UK may require a contribution towards additional postage costs. £80.00
