Inner hinges weak; scattered foxing, a little heavier to early leaves’ leaves corner-creased. A Good copy. Cultural/political periodical by various contributors with verse, essays and criticism (including film) in various languages including English, French and German. Includes an essay by Basil Bunting “Directory of Current English Authors”, here published for the first time in the original English (originally published translated into Italian as “Scrittori Inglesi Contemporanei” in L’ Indice 1 No 9 in May 1930). Bunting’s essay focuses on English authors post-1890, from Chesterton to Hemingway by way of Eliot and Pound. Front was published in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was said to be a publication of American communists. It ceased publication in 1931 after the fourth issue, Bunting contributed to two issues.
