Detailed and well illustrated history of Tibet and its visitors, and of the holy city. The second edition was published the same year as the first and is in to all intents and purposes the same. Landon (1869-1927) joined the British Expedition to Tibet in 1903-4 and became one of the first Europeans to describe the holy city of Lhasa in detail; he’s also known for a collection of short stories “Raw Edges” which includes ghost tale “Thurnley Abbey”. Evelyn Beatrice Morrison-Bell was from the noted Northumbrian Morrison-Bell’s, her father Charles William Morrison-Bell Bt (1833 - 1914) was the 1st Baronet of Otterburn Hall.
