Typescript of a work perhaps never formally printed. Quarto, pp. 47 typed recto only. Brown quarter linen with light green paper covered boards inscribed with title. Ephermera loosely inserted: newspaper clipping relating to Congregational Churches generally, dated 1974 in ink; Bible Society bookmark; letter to the Author from Joseph Davidson dated 1953, with quotations inspired by his reading of this work; Order of Service for the Induction of Rev Harry Turner at Tynemouth Congregational Church 1938, with his photographic portrait. Corners bruised and boards slightly soiled; paper split at inner front hinge but firmly holding. Contents clean with a little annotation from the Author but no inscriptions. A Very Good copy.
Rare- we have found no other record of this work, and conclude that it may never have been published. The Tynemouth Congregational Church was founded in 1865 and dedicated in 1868, and the period covered in this history goes up to the fundraising bazaar in June 1869. It includes detail on how the money was found for the foundation, and the various meetings and ceremonies and personalities involved. The church building is now The Land of Green Ginger shopping arcade, on Tynemouth Front Street.
