Second impression, after the first of 1948. Octavo, pp., [6], 199, [1] blank. Publisher’s original scarlet cloth, titled in gilt to spine, in the original cream-coloured dust-jacket. Small ownership inscription of one ‘J Rutherford’ in blue ink to front free end-paper, former bookseller’s small sticker to front paste-down. Jacket price-clipped, spine slightly toned. Gilt oxidised as usual, binding strong and firm. Contents very slightly toned but clean and bright. A very good copy in like jacket.
 
Williams’ unfinished prose work with detailed commentary on Williams’ poems by C. S. Lewis, ‘with whom Williams had fully discussed them in the last years of his life’ (jacket flap). Williams was a member, alongside J. R. R. Tolkien, of Lewis’ Oxford literary discussion group ‘the Inklings’.
