Harry Gruyaert (1941-) is a Belgian photographer and member of Magnum Photos, known for his richly saturated colour images and dramatic compositions. Having photographed extensively in the USA, Morocco, India, Egypt and Belgium, Gruyaert states, “For me, photography is not only a matter of composition or color, it must also talk about place and time.” Lumières Blanches was published for the Gruyaert exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo, Centre National de la Photographie, Paris 24 April–9 June 1986.
