Flannery O’Connor (1926-1964) was an American novelist and short story writer in the Southern Gothic tradition. O’Connor’s darkly comic works were influenced by Faulkner, Poe, Joyce, and Dostoevsky. Wise Blood was her first novel, originally published in 1952.
