FIRST EDITION. Quarto, unpaginated. Engraved title page and 20 engraved plates to Land Birds; engraved title page and 18 engraved plates to Water Birds. Maroon quarter calf with five raised bands and gilt tooling to spine, with maroon moire boards with gilt titles. Aeg. Primrose yellow endpapers. Minor wear to spine tips and corners. Binder’s ticket, ownership ticket of J C Grundy and armorial bookplates of James Hatton to front paste-down. A little very minor scattered foxing and finger marking otherwise contents clean and bright. A Very Good copy indeed. Only a few copies of the Supplement were issued in this form, without the text. Edward Walker printed a number of fine editions of the Birds and Quadrupeds excelling himself with this quality of the impressions in this production. Rare indeed, Tattersfield states there were 30 copies only, priced at 12 shillings each. Sold
