FIRST AMERICAN EDITION. Octavo, pp. viii, 498. Olive green cloth, dark green double ruled borders containing cypher, ornate centrepiece with gilt titles and gilt serpent ornament. Gilt title and dark green serpent ornaments to spine. Corner tips very slightly bumped, top edge a little dusty. Faint toning to front paste-down and endpaper and small ink inscription to corner of ffep. Otherwise clean, bright, square copy free of foxing and annotations.
 
Stoker’s seaside gothic horror follows Archibald Hunter, an Englishman holidaying in the Scottish coastal village of Cruden Bay, a place Stoker himself frequently visited and where he began writing Dracula. When Hunter begins experiencing strange and terrifying visions a complex chain of events and intrigue unfold. A boo not usually found in such attractive condition. Scarce.
