Bound in half dark blue straight grained morocco effect roan and red marbled paper over boards,with gilt fillets across spine and gilt spine ornaments and titles. A touch of wear to spine tips and corners. Both volumes holding firm with a small crack just starting at the lower joint of Volume II, hinge of Volume I starting. Contents clean and bright and free of ownership inscriptions or annotations. A very good set.
 
A collection of varied essays, by Lady Verney, a writer, journalist and sister of Florence Nightingale. Many of the essays show folklorist interest with titles including “The Powers of Women and how to Use them”, “Mythical and Mediaeval Swords” and “Old Welsh Legends and Poetry”.
