With frontispiece of the "Entrance to Shields Harbour", a large gate-fold facsimile of Fryer's Map of the Tyne of 1773 and eight full page plates as called for, mostly from photographs. Bound in the publishers’ bevelled green cloth with gilt titles and gilt-stamped crest to upper board, gilt titles to spine, tope edge gilt, floral patterned endpapers. A square, tight, clean copy with edges of cloth very lightly rubbed and small closed nick to cloth on upper board. A small, neat, contemporary South Shields ownership inscription to front free endpaper else exceptionally clean and bright. A Near Fine copy.
