Bound in contemporary midnight blue half calf and navy blue cloth over boards with gilt fillets parallel to edges; 5 raised spine bands, gilt frames in spine compartments, gilt spine titles; pale blue endpapers. Spine lightly sunned, some light scattered foxing throughout, mainly to prelims. A very good copy.

Predating modern standard English the Northumbrian dialect or ‘language’ is one of the four distinct dialects of Anglian Old English. Bound with pp. 44 bibliographical list (1896) at end.
