Five raised spine bands with gilt spine titles, blind-embossed floral devices to compartments, blind embossed floral devices within an ornate floral border to both boards, gilet dentelles; combed marbled endpapers; all edges gilt. Sensitively and capably rebacked with original spine laid on. Minor wear to corners of morocco. A solid, square. clean copy free from inscriptions or annotation. A very good copy. A handsomely bound copy of the first Stock facsimile edition of Walton’s thoughtful and gentle treatment of the contemplative nature of angling. Ostensibly a photographic facsimile reprint of of the first edition published in 1653 although there are some minor typographical differences. £100.00
