First edition in book from, following publication in serialised form in “Cosmopolitan” and “Nash’s Magazine”. The Author’s note to p. [3] explains that the characters are fictional; this followed a lawsuit for libel after which the character names were changed from Lane to Fane, and the location from Hong Kong to Tching-Yen in order to avoid further legal action. £280.00
